60 years on… Free Palestine!
Source PSC Palestinian solidarity campaign
Wednesday 7 May 2008
Palestinian speakers from the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon will tell supporters of the need for international help to end the ongoing catastrophe facing the Palestinian people on the 60th anniversary of the Nakba.
In 1948 750,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled their homes, in an orchestrated ethnic cleansing planned well in advance by the Zionist leadership. (Their military ‘Plan Dalet’ makes it clear that force was to be used to remove as many Palestinians as possible, destroy the villages and take over the towns.) The Israeli policies of land confiscation, house demolitions, and killings continue to this day.
Recent media has focused on the foundation of Israel in 1948, with very little mention of the dispossession of the indigenous Palestinian people which accompanied it. Join us to demonstrate opposition to 60 years of Israeli policies of displacement, destruction and occupation and in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
