Une déclaration en provenance des institutions de la société civile de Bethlehem

Votre participation à la Caravane partie d’Europe pour la Palestine, constituée aussi bien par des enfants que par des personnes âgées, a eu beaucoup d’impact sur les Palestiniens comme étant le reflet d’un soutien et d’une solidarité populaire et internationale avec notre peuple et ses droits légitimes de liberté et d’indépendance. Le refus d’Israël d’autoriser votre entrée en territoires occupés était juste une autre preuve de son acharnement, ses tromperies et ses dissimulations de faits. C’était aussi une confirmation de sa politique de cacher ses violations et agressions constantes contre le peuple palestinien et la terre en territoires occupés.

A cause de ceci, seulement 11 d’entre vous ont réussi à atteindre les territoires occupés et nous avons eu le privilège d’en rencontrer quelques uns à Bethlehem dans une période difficile. Durant votre visite à Bethlehem, vous avez fait connaissance avec le quotidien palestinien sous occupation militaire, visité des camps de réfugiés et des familles pour la plupart affectées par l’occupation, en particulier celles qui ont un des leurs, détenu dans les prisons israéliennes depuis longtemps, certains sous détention administrative illégale, une détention sans jugement.

Le soutien grandissant en Europe, tout spécialement en France, pour la lutte légitime des Palestiniens, créée de fait un statut international de soutien et solidarité avec le peuple palestinien et contribue grandement à notre lutte de libération et d’indépendance.

En dépit de l’engagement clair palestinien pour une trêve et malgré leur volonté de stopper les attaques contre Israël durant cette trêve, le gouvernement israélien continue sans ralentir ses assassinats ciblés, ses invasions de zones palestiniennes, ses bombardements de quartiers résidentiels, ses bouclages et ses couvre feux, la construction du mur d’annexion et d’expansion à l’intérieur des territoires occupés ainsi que l’agrandissement des colonies sur notre terre. Ces actes qui sont effectués avec le soutien total de l’administration américaine actuelle, empêche l’établissement d’un état palestinien viable dans les frontières de 1967 et tue toute opportunité pour la solution de deux états envisagée par la communauté internationale.

Nous avons bien conscience que la situation générale au Moyen Orient, en particulier, en Palestine et Irak, menace de plus en plus la stabilité de toute la région et, en conséquence, la stabilité du monde. C’est pourquoi, nous comptons beaucoup sur votre soutien -le soutien européen, officiel et populaire- afin d’exercer le plus d’efforts possible et de pressions sur le gouvernement d’Israël et des Usa pour qu’ils acceptent la volonté de la communauté internationale et reconnaissent le droit du peuple palestinien à une vie digne et libre, pour qu’ils arrêtent les agressions quotidiennes contre notre peuple et respectent tous les accords signés entre les deux parties.

Nous, ainsi que tous les membres de la société de Bethlehem, aimerions vous remercier pour vos efforts louables pour nous soutenir et sensibiliser le monde sur ce qui se passe ici. Nous vous appelons à continuer afin de construire, tous ensemble, un monde régi par la justice et non un monde régi par la force.

To all friends who participated at the Caravan of Right from different European countries
To our dear friends from France and all supporters

Your participation at the tough and difficult March that started from Europe to Palestine which was shared by children and elderly alike has a great impact on the spirits of the Palestinian people as it reflected the international and popular support to and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just rights for freedom and independence. Israel’s refusal to allow your entry to the occupied territories was just another proof of the israeli stubbornness, deception and concealments of facts. It was, also, a confirmation of the Israeli policy of hiding its ongoing violations and aggressions against the Palestinian people and land in the occupied territories.

Because of this, only eleven of you had managed to reach the occupied territories and we had the privilege to meet some of you in Bethlehem in a toughing and expressive atmosphere. During your visit to Bethlehem you got acquainted with the daily life of Palestinians under military occupation and visited refugee camps and Palestinian families mostly affected by the occupation, especially those families who have their dearly ones imprisoned in Israeli jails for so long periods of time of whom some have been under illegal administrative detention-detention without trial.

The growing support in Europe, particulary, in France for the legitimate Palestinian struggle, in fact, creates an international status of support to and solidarity with the Palestinian people and greatly contributes to the Palestinian struggle for liberation and independence.

Despite the clear Palestinian commitment for a period of quietness and despite the unified Palestinian stance of stopping attacks against Israel, the Israeli government hasn’t refrained form going on with its assassination attacks, storming of Palestinian areas, shelling of residential quarters, imposing closure ans curfews, continuing the construction of the Anexation and Expansion Wall inside the occupied territories as well as enlarging the Israeli colonies at the expense of Palestinian land. These acts which are being carried out in full support of the current American administration impede the establishment of a viable Palestinian state in the pre 1967 borders and kill any opportunity for the two states formula envisioned by the International community.

We are well aware that the general situation in the Middle East, particulary, in Palestine and Iraq, is increasingly threatening the stability of the whole region and, consequently, the stability of the whole world. Therefore, we very much count on your support -the popular and official European support- to exert utmost efforts and pessure on governments of Israel and the Usa to accept the will of international community and recognize the right of the Palestinian people in a dignified and free life and stop all the Israel daily aggressions gainst Palestinians as well as respecting all the agreements signed between the two parties.

We, along with all members of the Palestinian community in Bethlehem, would like to thank you for your great efforts in support of us and in getting the world aware of what is going on here. We kindly call upon you to continue to support the oppressed and persecuted Palestinian people in order to build, all together,a world ruled by the power of right not the power of might.
