In the early hours of Thursday 22 December, several Israeli army units and
armored vehicles invaded the district of Jeened in Nablus, the biggest
Palestinian town in the West Bank. Three men, Bashar Hanani, Ahmad Jayousi
and Anas El Shikh, were shot in the head and chest at close range by Israeli
snipers, in what looks like a shoot-to-kill policy.

The Israeli army arrived at 2am, blocking off the area and occupying about
10 buildings next to the construction site where the men were taking refuge.
The men, all in their twenties and carrying no automatic weapons, were shot
in the head and chest while trying to escape. Witnesses say they heard no
exchange of fire.

Dr Ghasan Hamdan, of Medical Relief, said Israeli soldiers prevented
emergency services from accessing the area for over 3 hours, and all three
died before receiving medical care. Dr Hamdan waited as close as possible to
the area under siege in order to assist the men but to no avail. On
confirming the killings he said “I believe the army could have arrested the
men instead of killing them.”

The imposed curfew lasted well into the next day, further disrupting the
local economy and daily life in the town.
