The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, announced the inauguration of the Latin American Meeting against Media Terrorism, to be held in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital city, between March 27 and March 29.

This event will include the participation of people from around the globe such as analysts, writers, internationalists, “in order to evaluate media terrorism, an issue that must be faced by international organizations. This problem has not been tackled collectively,” said the Venezuela president.

President Chávez assured that some presidents have faced this problem, including Evo Morales, Rafael Correa and Cristina Fernández.

Notwithstanding, he stressed it was important to incorporate this issue in presidential meetings and discussed the inappropriate use of the media.

Finally, the Venezuelan president said that “using international, national TV and radio stations and newspapers in order to produce wars, and instill violence and anguish in human beings” is not fair and that this situation should not continue happening. “It was about time for it to finish,” he pointed out.
