" Statement by European Jews for a Just Peace (EJJP) on the creation of the “European Jewish Parliament”

EJJP (European Jews for a Just Peace) has learned with dismay about the creation of a so-called « European Jewish Parliament » at the offices of the European Parliament in Brussels.

EJJP denounces this creation as a triple sham.

============================================

Nothing in the manufacture of this parliament, or the way it operates, or the selection of participants allows it to claim that it represents all European Jews.

There is no justification for some European Jews to set up a Parliament for themselves, claiming to produce a common Jewish policy in Europe.

Everything shows that once again, creating a lobbying tool dedicated to the unconditional defence of Israel regardless of the crimes committed by its successive governments, claiming an indissoluble link between Israel and Jews worldwide, and maneuvering to ensure that international institutions are aligned behind these positions, will stimulate and strengthen already existing anti-Semitism.

EJJP reaffirms that there will only be a lasting peace for all in the Middle East through the recognition of the human and political rights of all people in the region, including the Israeli and Palestinian people.
