Israeli military enters northern Gaza

(Israeli forces entered northern Gaza near Erez crossing on Thursday morning, witnesses and the army said.

Locals told Ma’an bulldozers dug up land and opened fire toward but no injuries were reported.

An Israeli military spokesman said soldiers were conducting « routine activity » in the area but said he was not familiar with any shooting.

On Wednesday, Israeli forces shot a man east of Gaza City.

Medical services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya told Ma’an the man was shot in the thigh while hunting for birds in the Shujaiyeh neighborhood, adding that his condition was critical.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said soldiers identified a « suspicious individual » approaching the security fence and shot him in the legs after he failed to respond to orders to leave the area.
