Subject: EU suspension of aid to Palestinians---EU, the German government included, would rather starve the Palestinians than press Israel to obey international law

Dear Mr. Barroso,

with the suspension of aid to Palestinians the EU shows their disregard for democracy and for the results of fair elections.
By withholding funds to the PA - alongside the decision of Israel to steal money which rightfully belongs to the Palestinian people - the EU is backing the declaration of the Israeli occupying power to tighten the economic siege on Palestine until it gets acquiescence to its expansionist land grab that would destroy all hope of a viable Palestinian state.
These collective punishments are in contravention of the Geneva Convention on Human Rights. They are a gross act of inhumanity against the Palestinian people for having exercised their democratic right to chose a Government which does not have the approval of the Israeli Government or the European Union.
The EU, the German government included, would rather starve the Palestinians than press Israel to obey international law. They echo the same mantra as Israel, demanding obedience from an occupied people while saying nothing about the murder of Palestinians by the illegal occupation army of Israel.
The governments of Germany and the EU are shamefully turning their backs on the Palestinian people, instead of demanding an end to Israeli violence and sanctions on Israel for flouting international law. The UN made it clear in a recent report that as 25% of all Palestinians are dependent on the salary of a PA employee, any withholding of funds would create a humanitarian crisis. Already 64% of Palestinians are living below the poverty line, and this latest punitive action will increase the poverty, with the assistance of EU and Germany!
The situation in Palestine is now reaching desperate levels. The Israeli government:
 Refuses to acknowledge Palestine’s right to exist
 Proclaims its intention to unilaterally declare borders based on land theft and ethnic cleansing
 Proclaims its intention to maintain an illegal occupation
 Promotes the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Palestine
 Disclaims all responsibility for the historic injustice perpetrated on the
Palestinian people when the State of Israel was established
 Steals and annexes large tracts of Palestinian land
 Promotes targeted assassinations
 Destroys Palestinian homes and livelihoods
 Consistently violates international law and ignores UN resolutions

I demand the immediate reinstatement of the payments, an end to double standards and recognition of the democratically elected Palestinian government.
