GAZA, (PIC)— An informed official source from Fatah faction unveiled new developments about what became known as the “file of Mohamed Dahlan”, the US-backed strongman in Fatah, and his scheme to control the Palestinian authority (PA) and replace de facto president Mahmoud Abbas.

After the Palestinian information center (PIC) revealed a letter with a written plan sent by Dahlan to the US administration in which he made suggestions that would lead to the overthrow of Hamas Movement and its government in the Gaza Strip, the Fatah source told the PIC that there was a strong correlation between this letter and the probe commission that was formed by Abbas to question Dahlan and other Fatah officials including Naser Al-Qedwa, a member of Fatah’s central committee.

The source added that Dahlan and the other officials were interrogated by this commission following the scathing verbal attack on Abbas which was launched by Qedwa in a report published by the US newspaper Wall Street Journal.

Qedwa’s remarks against Abbas were made, as it was discovered later, at the instigation of Dahlan who was summoned to appear before this commission, according to the source.

The source noted that the letter sent by Dahlan to the US administration read that “Abbas is now unable to make peace and we are able to do that, so he should be replaced by a figure who has the ability to achieve that.”

Another letter sent by Dahlan and other Fatah officials urged the US administration to help Dahlan to be the interior minister in the government of Salam Fayyad in Ramallah in exchange for his pledge to restore control over Gaza according to the plan he set earlier.

The last letter, according to the source, came in the context of the tension that was escalated between the followers of Dahlan and their opponents from the historical leaders of Fatah.

Dahlan also distributed weapons to his supporters in preparation for any future developments and Abbas, as a result of that, made major changes in his crew of guards, the source affirmed.

Another source from Fatah told the PIC that what Dahlan is doing now is the same thing which Abbas was doing with late president Yasser Arafat.

The source added that Dahlan’s aide and member of Fatah’s central committee Sultan Abu Al-Enein made recently wide contacts with his supporters and acquaintances in Lebanon to rally support for Dahlan in refugee camps.
