Des étudiants refusent de rejoindre l’armée israélienne pour cause d’occupation

Lettre co-signée par une centaine de lycéens de terminale
« Nous jeunes juifs et arabes à travers tout Israël annonçons ici que nous nous opposons à la politique répressive d’Israël dans les territoires occupés et au sein de l’Etat d’Israël. Nous refuserons donc de prendre part à ces actions menées au nom de l’armée de défense d’Israël. »
"l’occupation a conduit l’armée israélienne à violer de façon répétée les accords internationaux qu’Israël a signés, les résolutions de l’ONU, les lois internationales, et les propres lois d’Israël.
Ils concluent : « Notre refus d’être des soldats d’occupation vient de notre fidélité aux valeurs et à la société qui nous entourent, et ressort de notre combat continu pour la paix et l’égalité, un combat dont le caractère judéo-arabe prouve que la coexistence est possible. »

Students refuse to enlist in the Israeli army due to occupation
One hundred students signed this year’s high school seniors’ letter, which has traditionally attempted to challenge Israel ’s mandatory army service policy. Similar letters have circulated every few years since 1979, all calling on teens to object to Tzahal (Israeli army) service.
« We Jewish and Arab teens from throughout Israel hereby announce that we object to Israel’s oppressive policy in the occupied territories and within the State of Israel, and therefore we will refuse to take part in these activities, which are carried out in our name by the Israel Defense Army, » says the letter, signed by the high school seniors’ letter.
« The occupation has led the Israeli army to violate time and time again the international accords Israel has signed, UN resolutions, international laws, and the constitutional laws of Israel itself. »
The letter concludes by stating, « Our refusal to be soldiers of occupation derives from our fidelity to the values and society that surround us, and is part of our continuing battle for peace and equality, a battle whose Jewish-Arab character proves peace and coexistence are possible. »
