I was in Gaza strip one week and next week in Jerusalem and West Bank (Jenin, Hebron) in december 2006 -16 to 27- and in july 2007 -1 to 15- as an anesthesiologist volunteer for an american NGO with a team of french surgeons for peripheral nerve surgery, hand surgery and microsurgery training

In december in Gaza Strip we were escorted by police everywhere and in july we were free to go without escort and there was no more armed people in the streets and no more explosion day as night.

By contrast in july 2007 as in décember 2006 in West bank, palestinian police were everywhere in the city and there were 7 israeli checkpoint to go by palestinian taxi from Jerusalem to Jenin (less than 100km)

We met hamas doctors in Gaza Strip who spoke of Dayton plan against hamas elected government and preemptive hamas operation against fatah in mid june and then I met fatah doctors in West Bank who spoke Hamas ruthlessness, extremism and totalitarianism in the Strip. As a doctor going in palestinian territories since 1999 life is tough in palestinian territories but with less daily life violence and better public service -school and hospital- in Gaza than in west bank.
