Settlers damaged dozens of Palestinian vehicles and set fire to agricultural land in the northern West Bank late Monday, a PA official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma’an that dozens of settlers gathered near Tappuah checkpoint south of Nablus and threw stones at Palestinian vehicles, completely destroying two cars and damaging dozens more.

Earlier, settlers set fire to agricultural fields in the village of Burin, damaging 20,000 dunams of olive and fruit trees, Daghlas added.

Tensions were high in the northern West Bank last week after a settler was fatally stabbed near Nablus.

Settlers started over 50 fires and attacked Palestinians and their property in the Nablus and Tulkarem areas following the attack. They also attacked a mosque and two buses carrying school children.

Settler violence against Palestinian communities and their property is routine in the occupied West Bank, with settlers enjoying widespread impunity for their crimes.

Annual figures compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din have repeatedly shown that nine out of 10 police investigations about settler crimes fail to lead to a prosecution.
