GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — Israeli naval forces shot and injured a fisherman off the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, a medical official said.
Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra told Ma’an that Israeli forces shot Adel Baker, 51, in the head while fishing in a coastal area by Rafah.
He was transferred to the European hospital for treatment and is said to be in a serious condition.
An Israeli army spokeswoman did not return calls seeking comment.
Fishermen in Gaza face daily difficulties due to Israeli restrictions, and are often fired at by Israel’s navy, al-Qidra added.
